A Reflection

In Rest is Resistance, we’re reminded that our bodies and minds are not machines, and that our worth is not tied to how much we can produce. Tricia Hersey challenges the cultural insistence on endless work, illustrating how rest can be a form of liberation from systems that profit off of our exhaustion. There’s a sense of deep permission here—to claim rest not as a reward, but as our inherent right. When we pause, when we do nothing, we disrupt harmful narratives and reclaim our power. In the quiet, we discover deeper truths about who we are and what we want our lives to be.

An invitation

Today, I invite you to spend just 3 minutes with your eyes closed, focusing on the natural rhythm of your breath and notice the sense of urgency (or its absence) move through you. In this small window of intentional noticing, we loosen the grip of expectations and remember that we deserve to pause simply because we exist.

A Benediction

May you trust the wisdom of your body’s call for rest.

May stillness become your teacher, allowing you to listen to the whispers of longing beneath the noise.

May you find radical acceptance in the simple act of pausing.

And may you know that in choosing to rest, you are choosing freedom.
